Some words about her

Dalida, from her real name Yolanda Gigliotti, was born in Caire, Egyptia on January 17th 1933. She’s from an Italian household, and she came live in France at the age of 21 in hope to start her carrier in the musical industry. In order to do so, she took sing classes, make some show in cabarets and finally got a contract with a label with Eddy Barclay. Her carrier started in 1956 thank to her song Bambino.

Her story

Dalida became the first female artist who receive a gold single one year after the release of Bambino, she was putted on first page of many newspaper, received the Oscar of Monte Carlo seven years consecutive ! She became really quickly a real italian icon transgenerational in France and all around the world, notably for you grandpa. Indeed, during her carrier, dalida wrote her songs in the language of her heart, French, than in her natal language, Italian.

A tragic story

That is in 1987 that Dalida killed herself in Montmartre, Paris. During her glory days, at the age of 54, the artiste died, letting behind her the image of an engaged, talented and iconic women.

My favorite

Initially released in the twenties, Le temps des fleurs how we know it is actually a cover of Dalida from a Russian band. That is in 1968 that the famous Italian women sing it. The song became famous all over the world, and permits her to won her twenty golden single. Dalida sing that song in French, but actually also in Italian and German. These covers bring her on the top 10. There is also an English version sing by Mary Hopkin, who also has a lot of success. You loved that so much because of the joy in it, you remember yourself dancing around the table with him.
